MOVERS AND SHAKERS' FACES IN ORA AND OKORO MP SEATS.
THE FINALIST CANDIDATES OKORO AND ORA

ZOMBO

As the election time  ticks full speed ahead to the 2021 general election.  political players are as well racing against the clock to stomach the holy grail by all means.

In zombo district, many folks are showing up their interests in different political seats whilst others are still piping down waiting for their right time.citinews ltd takes a perusal at the lists of already confirmed faces vying for the positions of area members of parliament for Ora and Okoro constituencies respectively.

OKORO COUNTY

MR OKUMU GABRIEL

He is going to carry the Nrm party flag in the forthcoming general election. He came from the rear to defeat the incumbent member of parliament for okoro,Hon minister Simon Dujanga and Mr Martin kermundu with more than 50% of the votes in the just concluded Nrm primary election.

Mr Okumu Gabriel's victory was conceded by some of his opponents whilst contender Mr Martin kermundu threatened to take legal action against the whole electoral processes..Kermundu cited irregularities in the whole process.
" after having a legal deliberation with my team, we have agreed to challenge the recently concluded Nrm primary election as the same election were tainted with gross irregularities and illegalities," He said immediately after the declaration of the result.

He has remained cagey about that statement he made upto now.

Meanwhile, sources within Okumu Gabriel camp told citinews ltd that they are just looking at a" bigger picture ".

"Its not over until its over. we are still getting ourselves for the much bigger task ahead." The source said.

MR KUMIRA NICHOLAS ANGALA.

His face is not peculiar in okoro politics.he was defeated by Hon simon Dujanga in the 2016 election twice. He first contested in the Nrm primary and lost and later on shifted the goal post to independent ticket, he still lost to Dujanga in the 2016 general election.

This time around, He is still giving it a shot on independent ticket.

Nonetheless, His victory is not going to be a walk in a park as many people do say,its hard to outsmart an Nrm party flag bearer in Zombo given the party's well-entrenched nature in the area.

OFOYRWOTH RONALD

Having declared his MP bid in july, he remains tight-lipped on where he is going to vie for the position of the area member of parliament since the poster he shared on social media never depicted his area of contestation. However, sources say since he comes from Abanga subcounty in okoro county, he is coming for okoro mp seat.

Ofoyrwoth appeared on the ballot paper in 2016 but lost to incumbent Hon simon Dujanga.

He is coming on an independent ticket as per the communication on his released poster.

Mr Ramji krishna, who shown up his interest from the offset reportedly threw in the towel just a few weeks later. our effort to reach him last month went futile as our repeated phone calls to him went unanswered

Citinews ltd has learnt that other folks, are as well contemplating joining the foray majorly on independent tickets, but are still keeping it on the down-low.

ORA COUNTY

According to information on citinews information kiosk, So far, three candidates have been confirmed for Ora constituency rat race. they include

HON BIYIKA LAWRENCE SONGA.

Hon Biyika Lawrence the incumbent Mp seems to be a more formidable force in the race.this was eminently shown in the just concluded Nrm primary election, where he defeated his opponent Mr William mungujakisa with more than 70% of the votes.

In 2016 general election, Hon songa defeated Fdc candidate Mr  Trinity Canugora and independent candidate Ms Fazia sherry Alifa with more than 50% of the votes.

This time, many still believes he has the trump card of wrapping electorates around his fingernails in the forthcoming 2021 general election.

Hon Biyika Lawrence is the chairperson parliamentary committee on climate change.

MR JAWOTHO FRED OKURA.

First up, Jawotho declared his intention of contesting at the Nrm primary election but later pulled out under unclear circumstances.

Days ago, he formally availed himself as an independent candidate.

Mr Jawotho in one of the interviews with citinews ltd months ago said
" Am a food security specialist who is joining politics basically to advocate for equal opportunity among the marginalized people of Zombo...I  only feel that our main problem is leadership and proper representation of our people" .

The social worker and food security specialist has been working at ADRA Uganda in Yumbe district.

MR OCAKOWUN FELIX.

He made his intention formal after his poster was shared to this website weeks ago.

His campaign slogan is based on teamwork development and togetherness.

The effort by citinews ltd to reach him for more details about his candidature went futile as our message to him still remains unrealized.

Unconfirmed reports indicate that other candidates are yet to affirm their candidatures in both Ora and Okoro constituencies.

Area members of parliament shall be nominated on the 12-13th October this year.
